The totalride app, the latest division of Total Transit has arrived. Discount Cab, the local transportation company you already trust to deliver the experience of a happy, safe and accommodating ride for on-the-go passengers, and its parent company, Total Transit, were both founded in the Phoenix area in 1984. And now, the totalride app is growing into one of the leading transportation apps in the area.
With operations throughout Arizona and the Southwest, Total Transit, Discount Cab and totalride are uniquely positioned to serve your transportation needs.Visit Total Transit
All totalride drivers must pass state and federal background checks to ensure passenger safety. In addition, they must be compliant with a drug and alcohol testing program, pass a sex offender registry check, have no DUIs, and complete a training course that includes classroom, on-the-road and sensitivity training. Our sister division, Discount Cab, also certifies its drivers to provide mobility/wheelchair-accommodating transportation for those with disabilities. Through totalride, you can also request whether you prefer a car/sedan or larger van/SUV for your transportation needs.
totalride and its sister division, Discount Cab, would not be an industry leader in green innovation if it were not for the drive and passion of founder Craig Hughes. On Earth Day 2008, Hughes launched the Prius Project, converting the Discount Cab fleet to fuel-efficient cabs with the introduction of 20 distinctively-colored, lime green Prius vehicles. Today, the company has the largest hybrid fleet of cabs in North America. Annually, each cab saves an estimated 4,000 gallons of fuel and the fleet as a whole prevents over 30,000 tons of carbon dioxide from impacting the environment.
In 2010, Total Transit, the parent company of both totalride and Discount Cab, took a bold step for the company, community and industry when it installed a 400-panel rooftop solar energy system at the Glendale, AZ headquarters. This facility upgrade saves tens of thousands of dollars in electricity and is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 377 tons per year.
Due to these combined efforts, Total Transit was selected as one of the “Green Pioneers for 2010″ by the Phoenix Business Journal. In 2011, Discount Cab was recognized with the “Blue Sky Award” at Phoenix Valley Metro’s Annual “Champions for Clean Air” Campaign Awards for going above and beyond to improve both air quality and traffic congestion in the Phoenix Valley.
