Rideshare is the New Green

totalride is helping the planet stay green and reduce cost

totalride would not be an industry leader in green innovation if it were not for the drive and passion of founder Craig Hughes. On Earth Day 2008, Hughes launched the Prius Project, converting the then fleet of taxicabs to fuel-efficient vehicles with the introduction of 20 distinctively-colored, lime green Prius’. Annually, the savings from that change resulted in an estimated 4,000 gallons of fuel and the fleet as a whole prevented over 30,000 tons of carbon dioxide from impacting the environment.

In 2010, totalride took a bold step for the company, community and industry when it installed a 400-panel rooftop solar energy system at the Glendale, AZ headquarters. This facility upgrade saves tens of thousands of dollars in electricity and is estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 377 tons per year.

Due to these combined efforts, totalride was selected as one of the “Green Pioneers for 2010″ by the Phoenix Business Journal. In 2011, totalride was recognized with the “Blue Sky Award” at Phoenix Valley Metro’s Annual “Champions for Clean Air” Campaign Awards for going above and beyond to improve both air quality and traffic congestion in the Phoenix Valley.
